CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS

Friends,
Further to the continued efforts of Chennai City Connect, especially Raj Cherubal and Balchand, and a few of our CAF member architects there is quite a bit of activity related to Works in the Public Realm in our city.
You might have seen in the newspapers that there have been various initiatives towards improving the Urban infrastructure at different levels.  Along with Chennai City Connect some of us have been interacting with the Chennai Corporation and the response has been very positive and interactive.  The Mayor himself attends our meetings and is very keen that the improvements suggested need to be implemented post-haste.

Kavitha (CRN), Mahesh (MOAD), Shreya (ITDP), Tahaer Zoyab (TripleO Studio), Niels and Tamizharima (Mancini), Siddarth, me and team  (KSM), Venilla, Ajay Sethi (PSP Designs), Anoop Menon, Shrinath are some of us getting actively involved in Street edge sections and side walk designs, signage and standard details, spaces under flyovers, road junctions, pedestrian friendly access, public spaces, bicycle lanes and landscape are some of the areas that we have been addressing over the last few weeks.  Kavitha, Tahaer and Raj Cherubal have also conducted workshops with the Corporation engineers explaining various standard details.  They have also been working on-site with the Corporation Engineers on the sidewalks of Chamiers and Turnbulls roads.

This post is essentially a call to all those in CAF – Architects , Urban Designers, Landscape Architects and students who are interested in investing your time and energy towards this initiative in helping the Chennai Corporation in improving the infrastructure.  Time is of essence and Corporation is very keen in executing the improvements immediately.

Please reply to this Post to the CAF site and we will take it from there.
